2011 Wedding shots I love

Two thousand eleven was truly a wonderful year.  A watershed year where I was blessed with some great partnerships, solo photographic opportunities and room for growth.  I learned and learned and I thank you for that opportunity.

As I look back to the weddings of 2011, each one had amazing set shots.  Bodies were posed and eyes directed to create quality, heartfelt images.  Beyond those set shots were the moments in between.  Capturing those moments is where the true magic happened.  No amount of “try this” could supersede the authenticity of a stolen kiss, a smirk, or a guffaw.  It made all the posing worth it, I think.

These are the photos that I will forever cherish and say thank you to letting me be a part of your most important day.  I feel extremely honored.

Here are 16 shots I love.  All packaged into one small sized PDF.  Please enjoy.

Sincerely,

Lech

Lori and Stephen elope in Grand Teton National Park

Lori and Stephen have a wonderfully storied past of travels to exotic places, indulging in life, and just plain having a good time in each others’ company.  They decided to tie the knot in a small, private ceremony, paying attention to each other, and their vows, more than the celebration of getting married.  They shared many intense glances and enthusiastic laughs throughout our photo session.  Most of all, I loved their sass.  The classic backdrop of the Grand Teton was epic, worthy of their character and love.  The following are a few shots from this session with Fisher Creative in Teton National Park.   Continue reading

Carly and Jason – August 13th, 2011

I think I kinda like kissing photos!

Only one day after my birthday I had a rip roaring time celebrating with Carly and Jason for their wedding party at the Crow’s Nest in Santa Cruz, CA.  The day started off with a typical marine layer that burned off just in time for a bright and sunny celebration right on the beach. Everyone was at the Lighthouse on time for formals… well almost.  But the lucky couple finished strong.  FYI: Click on any photo to get larger, higher quality image. Continue reading

Giant Expectations with Carly and Jason and Family

So this was my first time meeting Carly and Jason, and it was memorable afternoon outside of PacBell dodging baseball fans, cars, and singlespeeds.

Carly (the bride) is seen here hanging “on” her sister Layne.  They’re definitely a dynamic duo.  They like to smile, laugh, and generally incite “good-timedness”. We had a ball outside of the game trying on a few different “engagement session” poses. You kn0w, the usual stuff – the Willie Mays, Abbey Road.   Continue reading

Big Congrats to the Monteau Family

Log Cabin, Surfboards and Jeriel

So I’ve been shooting these friends for many years.  From engagement shots to some wedding action to lil’ bump to baby.  These two (now three!) serve as a real testament to courage and caring winning out the day.  Both have endured some major hiccups (like Ariel can’t drink hoppy beer, jk) and they’ve found a way to make their lives full and help other people fulfill their dreams at the same time.

Brett and Ali enjoying a quiet moment

Brett and Ali enjoying a quiet moment

I’m not necessarily a contest hound, but boy do I love seeing what other people are doing.  Especially if it’s good.

Well, this isn’t just good.  It’s amazing.  Here are some really fantastic sites of 20 incredible photographers who were selected as the “Top 20 overall winners from the ISPWP Fall 2010 Wedding Photography Contest“.

Thinking Double – Brett and Ali's Wedding

I attended a wonderful wedding in Guerneville, Sonoma County, over the Labor Day weekend.  Two friends, Brett and Ali, were getting married and it was truly a wonderful wedding weekend.  I was only an “attendee”, but I clicked some 700 shots that weekend.

So knowing they had an outstanding photographer (Paul C. Miller) with a great vibe, I was in great shape to do whatever I wanted! Yay!

I decided to shoot the classic portrait arrangements that Paul set up – and got some great results from a slightly different angle.  Also, more of a taste of photojournalism.

Then I also got to do a bit of photojournalism type shooting on my own.

After taking a look at the photos and the elements, I decided to try to combine a couple in double and triple exposures using Photoshop Elements 8, and final color balance with Lightroom 2.7.

Here’s what I came up with – a taste of non-traditional in the traditional wedding.

Great times – Thanks Brett and Ali for such an amazing weekend.  I feel lucky to have been a part of it!
