Bikes. Are. Rad.
That’s all there really is to say about these two-wheeled creatures. They’re stylish, sleek, hardy, solid little engineered chunks of steel that provide a unique experience. They are THE way to travel over land in my perspective. I wish I could do all my field work on bike.
This is a little project in which I got to do quite a bit of it via two wheels.
Transit and Trails is a youthful organization that’s providing the guidance for people to enjoy the outdoors without the obtrusive, ubiquitous car. It is a wonderful site that offers many suggestions for car-free hikes, backpack trips and even bike rides. The Alt ride is the grand daddy of their suggested trips. On June 16th, 2012, the third ever Alt ride (aka Triple Threat) will launch from … (well check out their site). The trip summits three major Bay Area peaks over the course of one day, and… it’s all sans automobile. Public transit helps link some of the peaks so that the ride is “doable” – and don’t worry – you’ll still get some 128 + miles on the bike – it’s not called “weeny ride” for a reason.
Needless to say, I’m really looking forward to this year’s ride. Please do take a peek at the site. Here are a few of my past posts on the Triple/Alt ride. Enjoy.
