Nature Closed for Business

There you have it.  California has officially closed nature.  The Governor, Jerry Brown, has signed AB95 into law which asks that $11 million (2011/12) and $22 million (2012/13) dollars be excised from the State Parks budget in order to meet our greater state need to balance its weighty books.  The parks in the Bay Area that will close include Henry Coe (pictured above), Castle Rock, and China Camp.  These parks will be closed to the public for at least two years – and I say “at least” because it may be much longer.  Here’s a State Parks Foundation map of all statewide closures.

Catching Energy of Place

So I went over to SF to walk around the park during the first game of the World Series.  It was such an amazing scene there, alive with life and personality. Residents of SF really seem to love their city.  I mean love it! Given the rates for room and board here, I guess you’d better like what you’re getting into, because it’s cheaper to live almost anywhere else in California… or the world for that matter!

This said, it was great to be around the energy of the place.  I tried to catch some of the excitement in the next few shots.  Go Giants!
